"Opalised Coral Ball' - Gypsum Crystal Replacement #01

The #01 Coral Ball listed here is a good representation of Gypsum mineral. When this piece was unearthed the bottom peeled back and exposed the purple opal replacement.

This is what we commonly call on field an 'Opalised Coral Ball'. Opal has replaced the previous gypsum crystal structure making it a wonderfully unusual piece to add to your Opal Collection.

Note : "Coral Balls' were previously commonly mistaken as an Opal Pineapple. Recently we have confirmed with geologists these are in-fact a gypsum replacement & not of the Ikaite mineral structure.
